Situated to the north of Argelès-plage, being 145ha in area, the National Nature Reserve is one of the last wild natural sites of the plain and coastline of Roussillon.
Interspersed with scattered woods and reed beds bordering the branches of the Tech river, the Reserve has preserved its natural appearances as well as its uniqueness as regards biology.
The visit allows to explore a wide variety of landscapes created by the juxtaposition, on a small area, of different natural environments: reed beds, meadows, dunes and mouths of the Tech river.
You will admire a great number of birds including grey herons, common black-headed gulls, European bee-eaters and gulls.
A nature study trail, wayside exhibits, a picnic area have been created to help visitors enjoy the nature reserve.
Visit
Conducted tour of Mas Larrieu with a guide every Thursday, April to September. Group of 15 persons maximum.
